630HP Four-Door AMG Making Waves in Geneva
At the Geneva Motor Show, Affalterbach has split the ultra-popular segment even further, enriching the AMG GT family with the 2019 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Four-door Coupe. Literally, it is the performance mid-size coupe-sedan, but spiritually, the entire cabin as well as specific design elements is strongly influenced by the last-gen E-Class sedan.
Some GT 4-Door versions will come packed with an active rear spoiler that can be adjusted manually, for a fixed wing, while others feature a speed-activated mechanism. The Aerodynamics Package will be optionally offered to customers; the aforementioned package includes the fixed wing, a modified rear diffuser and plenty of gloss black exterior components. Alongside with it, two carbon fiber packages as well as Chrome and a Night one, will be available.
And what about a 48-volt mild hybrid system? Two engine choices and three versions will hit U.S. dealers. The base version, the AMG GT 53, packs 429hp and 384 lb-ft of torque and benefits from a 3.0-liter turbocharged I6 power unit along with the EQ Boost electric motor using the 48-volt mild hybrid system. The range-topping AMG GT 63 S increases power output to 630hp and 627 lb-ft of torque and is powered by a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 mated to the nine-speed automatic transmission and the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. The AMG GT 63 slots underneath with 577hp and 553 lb-ft of torque from the same V8. Couple this with an electronic rear differential, the Drift Mode and cylinder deactivation for boosted efficiency when cruising, and get the stunning ‘shut up and take my money’ model!
