Aerodynamics Matters: 2018 Honda Civic Type R Sets Hottest Nurburgring Lap Record
You can now consider the latest 2018 Honda Type R as the fastest one: the Japanese last-gen sports car has become the quickest front-wheel drive car having set the Nurburgring lap record at the track this week. The fortress fell; the Type R has beaten the Volkswagen GTI Clubsport S gaining the title of the fastest lap for a FWD production car. The GTI 40 Years Edition made a whopping time of 7:49:21 last year, the Civic Type R managed a victorious 7:43:8 time topping the previous GTI record by 5.5 seconds. Hella a tough nut!
Setting the lap record needs definitely impressive performance here. Under the hood, the Civic Type R is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine. However, the record-setting track king meets some serious improvements including a longer wheelbase, wider tires and a track along with a new multi-link suspension, to improve aerodynamics. Well, then, it works.
