California Welcomes Exclusive Edition of Porsche 935 at Rennsport Reunion
Aimed to mark Porsche’s 70th anniversary, an exclusive edition of the historic Porsche 935 tributing the world-known Daytona and Le Mans race car has been unveiled at Rennsport Reunion – the motorsport event held at the Laguna Seca Raceway, California. But it is not another concept, mind you – Porsche is serious about building and selling all 77 units of its limited number, each with a heart-wrenching $187,000 price tag.
For this price (nearly three times the cost of the standard 911 GT2 RS the new car is based on), customers get 700 horsepower delivered through a 3.8-liter biturbo flat-six white power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The striking bodywork features unique 935-inspired carbon-fiber composite panels aimed to extend the length and width, a massive rear spoiler, aero red wheels built to increase aerodynamics, and a galvanizing white-red-blue livery in Martini colors.
Inside, the laconic cockpit is dominated by a carbon-fiber steering wheel and gauge cluster screen inspired by Porsche’s 911 GT3 R; the car is fitted with a Recaro six-point harness racing seat, a safety cage and air conditioning.
