Powerful trucks are, if fact, still considered as an integral part of Texas lifestyle. So no wonder that at the current Dallas Auto Show, FCA rolls on its latest ‘no-compromise’ pickup, the fifth-gen (and at the same time totally new) RAM 1500 Lone Star edition. The very Texas trim level will offer buyers – only for Texas – seven option configurations including a 4x4 Off-Road Group and Premium Lighting Group, unique ‘Lone Star’ badging, and resolutely monochrome exterior ‘Sport’ and ‘Black’ packages.
Across the lineup, the stunning pickup gets such chrome exterior parts as front and rear bumpers and door handles, 18-inch aluminum wheels, foglamps, a well-pronounced grille with strong accents and a unique tailgate. The preppy interior is completely revamped offering four trim levels, a classy-touch leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a choice of passengers’ individual or bench front seats. Among other pleasant additions are optional 20-inch wheels, a locking rear differential and an exclusive active air suspension system.
The powertrain offerings include the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 that outputs 395 horses, or the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with eTorque that delivers 305 horses, paired to a 4x2 or 4x4 drive and Crew and Quad Cab configurations.
