The Ferrari Challenge Turbo Racecar Debuted at Daytona
Ferrari has just revealed its long-awaited 2017 488 Challenge racecar to replace the 458 Challenge Evoluzione model. Sharper and faster, the newcomer debuted at the Finali Mondiali at Daytona International Speedway this weekend. The 488 Challenge is considered to be the first turbocharged one-make racecar, to participate the series. Makes matters better, it was unveiled ahead of 2017, to mark a milestone of the 25th anniversary of the Ferrari Challenge Series.
A particular highlight of the model is its aerodynamics; the 488 Challenge features a completely redesigned front bumper, a huger rear wing and a modified layout of the front radiator, along with new vents and integrated flaps, to increase stability and boost downforce. Due to its race orientation, the engineers improved traction control via TC1 and TC2 manettinos on the steering wheel. The powertrain boasts enhanced engine mapping along with the DCT transmission. The model’s 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 enables the 488 Challenge to spend just 6 seconds accelerating from 0 to maximum revs.
