Frankfurt Motor Show: Thunder Power Diving in the Deep with All-Electric SUV
Two years ago, it was 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show where Thunder Power unveiled its Sedan EV concept, designed by Zagato. At the 2017 Frankfurt event, the Chinese electric car company showcased another EV vehicle to wrap off its pure-electric SUV targeted to European customers. Along with the SUV, Thunder Power announced the two-door, pure-electric 488kW (that’s equivalent to 654hp) Launch Edition Coupe, with a limited number of units, just 488, and tons of customization options.
The sporty SUV is actually at the full prototyping stage, production is claimed to start in 2020. Equipped with a 125kW battery, the 430kW-vehicle (equivalence to 577bhp) will offer a choice of RWD or AWD along with two or three motors and a driving range of over 400 miles. Underpinning the Germany-made TP modular platform and Italy-engineered multi-link suspension, the SUV packs its all-electric powertrain in such a way to provide plenty of interior space.
