When the ritzy Retractable Fastback (RF) was unveiled at the 2016 NY Auto Show, it definitely made waves there. On its own, Miata MX-5 is worldwide famous model so no wonder a retractable hardtop version is meant to be a useful yet exquisite addition to the lineup. Limited to 1,000 vehicles in the U.S., the rear-wheel-drive RF Launch Edition is expected to arrive customers not sooner that the early 2017. And holy cripes, this is nothing less a Christmas surprise – first MX-5 RFs’ customers have already got its stocking stuffers!
Due to some changes in production schedule, the Japanese automaker succeeded in delivering Xmas gifts to its customers. Starting with a base price of $34,685, including destination, the folding hardtop RF version (yes, you need only 12 seconds to up or down the top!) is tremendously popular; so no wonder Mazda wishes all the best to its most loyal buyers with these Launch Editions. The non-limited version will arrive dealers a little later.
