New-gen Honda Civic hatchback debuted at the 85th Geneva Motor Show boasting the most powerful engine in its 22-years history. Thanks to that, Type R is considered now to be the most impressive as well as fastest front-wheel-drive hatchback, setting the way with the 7:50:63 lap at the Nürburgring Nordschleife and demonstrating the top speed of 167mph. The Honda hatchback can sprint 0-62mph in just 5.7 seconds, and that’s a good chance to winning to compete with Renault Megane Trophy-R, a fastest front-driver ever. The Civic Type R features a 2.0-liter turbocharged VTEC four-cylinder engine with a six-speed manual transmission delivering 295 pound-feet of torque and 306hp. Such a juicy stat for a hatch!
As for the exterior, once can point out the aggressive functional design; the hallowed Honda offers now an updated deeper rear diffuser and side skirts to intensify the heavy look. The front splitter has also been redesigned; now the model is equipped with new Brembo brakes, new intakes, a catching big wing, exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels, bolstered sport seats and adjusted dampers. All the ultra changes are aimed to increase the Type R badge’s rigidity and aerodynamic effectiveness.
