Only Exige, Only Hardcore – Lotus Revealed its Exige Cup 380 Trackfighter
More track-focused, a bit faster, sharper and lighter – so meet the latest Lotus trackfighter, the Lotus Exige Cup 380. That’s right, it’s another special edition, with limited production as Lotus is going to produce 60 units only, each with a basic price of $128,000 (or £83,000). The track-friendly Exige Cup 380 won’t come to the US; orders in Europe are currently acceptable.
Under the hood, the juicy Cup 380 is powered by a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 using the same motor as the predecessor, the Sport 380. Paired with a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission, the powerful engine puts out 375 horses and 302 pound-feet of torque hitting 60mph in 3.4 seconds only and running a top speed of 175mph (it’s even faster than the Sport 380 in 0.1 seconds). The track-targeted Cup 380 runs a Hethel track lap in 1:26 setting the fastest Lotus lap ever; the Sport 380 delivers 1:23:5. Coming standard with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, AP Racing brake calipers, Nitron adjustable dampers and rear anti-roll bars, the Cup 380 has 2,330-pound curb weight due to use of extra-lightweight materials including carbon fiber. The smart addition of exterior carbon fiber parts helps deliver a downforce of 440lbs at speed. In terms of interior, there is a whole set of exposed carbon fiber adds including trim pieces, door panels and race-inspired sport seats.
