Porsche is ready to reveal a new speedy toy for gentlemen racers with the launching of the new 2019 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport. Aimed to replace 2015 GT4 Clubsport, a track-only version of the 718 Cayman will feature two topping versions, Trackday, for amateur drivers, and Competition, for more serious racers. According to the press-release of the German brand, the new model boasts boosted drivability and faster lap times, and is capable to enter professional series as well.
What stands out is plenty of race-inspired body features of the road-going Cayman. Mark you, Porsche uses natural plant-fiber composite in a vehicle to form its rear wing, body panels and doors. Both versions roll on a 3.8-liter flat-six from the 911 paired with a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox under the hood – such an evolution of the engine helps to boost power to 420 horsepower in road-race car trim.
The Competition version comes with front-rear adjustable brake system, three-stage adjustable shocks, and steel brake discs. The Trackday model differs from the previous one with traction control, electronic stability control, and anti-lock brakes. There’s also a larger 115-liter fuel cell, and integrated air-jack system that makes prompter work of pit stops.
The 2019 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport retails for $152,738 if you opt for a Trackday version, and $178,956 if your choice is a Competition version.
