Shades of Gray: Subaru Revealed Special WRX STI Series
2019 Subaru WRX and WRX STI Series.Gray sport sedans have been finally revealed by Subaru. Offered as a limited edition trim only (1,000 units will be built total – 750 WRXs, and 250 STIs), the Series.Gray has faced a host of performance upgrades and design enhancements inside and outside. The limited series is expected to hit dealerships this fall.
The WRX drops the standard sunroof picking up the JURID front brake pads, blackened out 18-inch alloy wheels and exclusive Black Silica badges; the Performance Package comes optional there. On top of that, the WRX will get LED fog- and headlights, Ultrasuede-trimmed Recaro seats, foldable exterior mirrors, and 8-way power driver’s seat. Powered by a 2.0-liter flat-four engine paired to a six-speed manual transmission, the WRX sedan makes 268 horses and starts at $32,595.
The WRX STI is more powerful yet; power comes from a 310-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged unit. The high-performance version features improved handling due to a special Bilstein STI sport-tuned suspension setup featuring Bilstein dampers. Along with the same Ultrasuede Recaro seats, keyless start and adaptive LED lights, the STI boasts an Ultrasuede red-stitched steering wheel, unique Cool Khaki Gray paint, and the Brembo brakes with a silver finish accented by a black logo. The STI sedan starts at $39,695.
