You’d Better Run from the Ford’s Gun
The race is on, and I’m game, Ford said, with the production-specs 2017 GT supercar. This track killer seems to nail the McLaren 675LT to the wall and swears putting the Ferrari 458 Speciale on heels. Blue Oval has just revealed first performance figures for the 2017 GT supercar and the figures bedazzle deeply. The GT rules going for a ride with an impressive top speed of 2016mph, making 647 hp at 6,250rpm and 550 lb-ft of torque at 5,900rpm, respectively. Featuring such a top speed, the 2017 GT is considered to be the fastest Ford’s production car ever.
Saving a lot of weight due to aluminum components and carbon-fiber monocoque used, the 2017 GT is announced to have a dry weight of 3,054 pounds – a bit lighter than a 458 Speciale, but a bit heavier than the 675LT. The supercar comes with a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. During testing at Canada’s Calabogie Motorsports Park, Ontario, the GT delivered a time of 2.09.8 against the McLaren’s 2.10.8 time and the Ferrari’s 2.12.9 one.
