Beating Hearts: Rolls-Royce Unveils a Brand-New Phantom VIII

Meet the Silence, and no, it is not the longship from ‘Game of Thrones’ but the all-new 2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII, that has been unveiled with fanfare at a special event, and this time it looks like nothing before, with its eight generation. Being definitely posh, the pompous flagship becomes even more artistic with the fluid bodywork and evolutionary design. It hasn’t been electrified, however, only the 6.75L V12 has been thoroughly revised to deliver 570hp and 664 lb-ft of torque along with satellite-aided eight-speed automatic transmission.

To improve ride comfort, the carmaker has used the new pure-aluminum spaceframe ‘Architecture of Luxury’ chassis, the latest adaptive air suspension and four-wheel steering. A huge combination of noise-reducing measures including the so-called Silent Seal tyres, a double skin alloy along with sound-insulating foam bears mentioning, to brighten cruising comfort. Sounds like the most silent car in the world.

The exterior changes are sweeping; the faux radiator is exquisitely adorned with a Spirit of Ecstasy that can be made of gold, silver, or illuminated polycarbonate, as buyers wish. The carmaker raised the grille higher and made it even wider as well as the wheelbase. Compared to the current profile, the all-new model features a sloped roof and rectangular taillight graphic. In terms of the cabin, it now describes as ‘just refined elegance’, with the expanse of leather and natural wood. The most discussed feature is ‘the Gallery’, a glass dash experimental panel including a customized piece of artwork like porcelain flowers by Nymphenburg. Customers can opt for kinds of artwork already existed, or choose their fav artists’ masterpieces, or even prefer a gold-plated 3-D printed map of an owner’s DNA, created by Thorsten Franck.
