Dropping the Top: Lambo’s Huracan Performante Spyder Steals the Motor Show in Geneva
As if the latest Huracan Performante needed to be made any more an object of passionate desire, Lamborghini went one step further. They dropped the top and offered an electro-hydraulic soft top for its sparkling jewel in the crown, the Huracan Performante Spyder. Note that the Spyder sports car is nevertheless track-focused version – and it is sensational to look at!
What we do know is that the Huracan Performante Spyder will be available with a foldable fabric roof that folds up or down in just 17 seconds. By the way, Lambo claims the Spyder version is actually lighter as the removal of the roof as well as using Performante-specific carbon fiber helps to shave 77 pounds off. The main design cues have been borrowed from the Super Trofeo racers and open-framed performance motorcycles.
The four-wheel-drive Spyder retains the 631bhp and 442 lb-ft of torque naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 good for 3.1-second sprints to 62mph and a breezy top speed of 202mph. The regular version packs carbon-ceramic brakes, 20-inch wheels wrapped in P Zero Corsas, ALA aerodynamic system (one of the differences the automaker is most proud of is that the downforce-focused system boasts active flaps on the rear wing and splitter). The Spyder is expected to start deliveries in summer, with the starting price of $308,859…well, it will expect to be Lambo’s money.
