Still Being Kept Secret – Any News about Tuatara?
Each and every hearted fan of the Shelby Supercars is anxiously biting their nails waiting to hear good news about the bespoke Shelby Tuatara supercar. Yes, that’s right; when it comes to the fastest hypercars, one can hold up Bugatti Veyron Super Sport or Koenigsegg One:1, but where in the world is the SSC Tuatara? Jarod Shelby, the SSC founder, has been teasing us with this monstrous project since 2011. Dusting off the Tuatara project in 2016? Let us hope for the best.
According to some messages on Facebook, the engineering team hammers away the drivetrain calibration as well as works at the Tuatara road testing. It is known that the model would build an Ultimate Aero XT package only vaguely resembling the Maserati Birdcage 75th concept car. As for the exterior, the Tuatara features fluidic, nature-inspired, designed panels finished in cream-white color. The air brakes and active spoilers as well as aerodynamic spats are considered to be rather the Tuatara merits. Pity but after Pebble Beach Show, we haven’t got a chance to appreciate the whole project concept. All we can is to say “it is expected that…” Actually, the SSC Tuatara is believed to be powered by a 6.9-litre V8 Turbo engine producing 1350hp. As the SSC promised, the top speed would make up an unbelievable figure of 276mph, sprinting from 0 to 60 in just 2.3 seconds. The estimated pricing tag for the supercar would be $1.3 million – not so much if compared to Sweden Koeniggsegg One or Agera (about $2 million) or Veyron Super Sport (almost € 2 million). “Keep tuned for the updates”, Jarod Shelby calls up.
