2019 Acura RDX Qualifies for TOP SAFETY Pick Plus Award
The IIHS has given A Top Safety Pick Plus Award to the 2019 Acura RDX after putting it through a full pack of crash tests and safety examinations. It should be noted that every year it gets harder and harder to earn this rating award as the vehicle must fulfill a list of strong requirements. The latter includes ‘Good’ rating in such crash test categories as head restraints, roof strength, side impact, driver’s side front overlap impact as well as moderate front overlap, not to mention ‘Advanced’ or ‘Superior’ rating in the front crash prevention test. The 2019 RDX qualified the ‘Superior’ rating after it succeeded in avoiding crash at 12mph and 25mph.
To get the Top Safety Pick Plus Award, the vehicle must also earn an ‘Acceptable’ or ‘Good’ rating on the passenger’s side small overlap impact – this test category was established relatively recently, so older vehicles have some troubles in achieving this point. The RDX packed with optional safety technologies earned a ‘Good’.
